Laurell K Hamilton's Merry Gentry series is, believe it or not, even more hardcore than her recent Anita Blake ones. A Lick of Frost ended on a very...interesting note. (Parentage, anyone?)

(From Wiki) The City of Ember is a 2003 apocalyptic book by Jeanne DuPrau. It revolves around the underground city of Ember, the one known surviving settlement and "the only light in the dark world" that's slowly dying as supplies run low and the electrical system starts to fail. The main character is Lina Mayfleet, who, along with her friend, Doon Harrow, watch as the light of Ember flickers and work together to discover a way out.

So I just watched Choke tonight at a preview, and I loved the movie. :) Touching yet funny, and twisty too. The book seems as good if not better, from the two chapters I've read. Anyone else who wants to have a look should check out the friend-locked author/title list (second post). And, of course, Fight Club requires no comment..

My first thought were these covers are really...weird. But the summaries seem interesting enough. ('More Anita Blake?!" I hear you groan. XD) Thank goodness they aren't documentaries! XD
